The final participant in the 2025 Home Run Derby was confirmed on Thursday evening, with the New York Yankees proudly announcing that Jazz Chisholm Jr. will join the competition. Chisholm, who has demonstrated impressive power numbers this season, will be the eighth player in the lineup for the event taking place at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, on Monday.
Chisholm’s season statistics showcase his potential as a power hitter. He is currently slugging at .530, having hit 17 home runs in just 61 games. If he maintains this pace, he could reach a remarkable 45 home runs in a full 162-game season, significantly surpassing his career-high of 24 home runs. Since joining the Yankees during last year’s trade deadline, Chisholm has accumulated 28 home runs over the course of 107 games.
Star-Studded Lineup Awaits
Chisholm will compete alongside an impressive roster of participants in the derby. The lineup already includes notable players such as Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves, Cal Raleigh from the Seattle Mariners, James Wood of the Washington Nationals, Byron Buxton from the Minnesota Twins, Oneil Cruz of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Junior Caminero from the Tampa Bay Rays, and Brent Rooker of the Oakland Athletics.
Notably, this year’s competition will see a new champion crowned, as none of the participants have previously won the derby. This marks a significant moment for Chisholm, as it will be his inaugural appearance in the event and the first time a Yankees player has participated since Aaron Judge took part in 2017.
As excitement builds for the Home Run Derby, baseball fans are eager to see how Chisholm and his fellow competitors will perform in what promises to be an electrifying showcase of power hitting.
