Workhorse Group has achieved a significant milestone by logging over 20 million miles with its fleet of electric commercial vehicles. The milestone was reached shortly after the merger with Motiv Electric Trucks, which took place in late 2022 for $105 million.
The combined fleets of Workhorse and Motiv have primarily focused on last-mile delivery, catering to the growing demand for sustainable logistics solutions. According to Scott Griffith, CEO of Workhorse Group, “Twenty million miles is a significant threshold which reflects not only the quality and performance of our vehicles, but the trust that our many repeat customers have placed in Workhorse.” Griffith emphasized that this achievement underscores the suitability of medium-duty vehicles for electrification, particularly in urban settings where emissions reduction is critical.
Operational Insights and Fleet Performance
The remarkable distance covered can be attributed to approximately 1,100 commercial electric vehicles, notably the W56 and EPIC4 models, which have been pivotal in this journey. As part of their operations, Workhorse has also benefited from data gathered through its independent logistics provider, Stables by Workhorse, which operates a mixed fleet of internal combustion engine (ICE) and battery-powered vans in Ohio for FedEx Ground. This real-world experience provides valuable insights into the operational performance of last-mile delivery trucks.
