WILMINGTON, DE — A 44-year-old man has been arrested by Wilmington Police following a string of reported burglaries across the city in recent weeks. The suspect, identified as Alexis Martinez, was apprehended on August 7, 2023, after police responded to a burglary in progress on the 100 block of West 26th Street.

At approximately 11:06 a.m., officers arrived at the scene, where authorities allege that Martinez fled on foot. Following a brief chase, police apprehended him without further incident. Subsequent investigations linked Martinez to multiple burglary cases, including incidents in the 2900 block of North Van Buren Street, the 1000 block of West 25th Street, and the 1000 block of West 24th Street.

Martinez now faces a range of charges, including five counts of third-degree burglary, four counts of theft exceeding $1,500, four counts of criminal mischief under $1,000, and one count of resisting arrest. He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and is currently held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a cash-only bail of $12,600.
