Among the most notable items sold were prestigious awards from Mays’ remarkable 1954 season. His MVP award fetched a staggering $458,250, while his Silver Slugger award sold for $246,750. Additionally, Mays’ World Series ring from that same year also commanded $458,250 at auction.
Another highlight included Mays’ home uniform from the 1962 season, worn during the All-Star Game and potentially the World Series, which sold for an impressive $634,500. From his 1965 season, the MVP award brought in $387,750, while the Babe Ruth “Sultan of Swat” award sold for $235,000.
Mays’ custom 1977 Stutz Blackhawk VI, complete with a “Built for Willie Mays” placard and signed documents, also attracted significant bids, ultimately selling for $45,237.50. In a remarkable moment, his Presidential Medal of Freedom, awarded by President Barack Obama in 2015, garnered a winning bid of $64,625.
Hunt Auctions has confirmed there will be another offering from Mays’ collection set for late 2025, with expectations of generating an additional seven figures.
