UPDATE: The Yates Center Wildcats are poised to make a significant impact in the Three Rivers League as they prepare for the upcoming season, kicking off on September 4, 2024. After a challenging 1-8 record last year, the Wildcats believe they are ready to turn their fortunes around, fueled by a rigorous summer weight lifting program and strong team chemistry.

Coach Ryan Panko attributes the team’s renewed confidence to their dedicated participation in offseason workouts. “Our team chemistry, the kids we have showing up to weights and getting after it might be the best I’ve had since I’ve been here,” Panko stated, underscoring the importance of unity among players.

Junior Jeremiah Jones was among those hitting the weights hard, showcasing the physical readiness of the team. The Wildcats are not only stronger but also more experienced this season, boasting three seniors: Eli Hess, Blake Morrison, and Clayton Culver. Culver is stepping onto the field for the first time and is anticipated to be a key player on both sides of the line.

“I’m really excited for it,” said Culver. “Hopefully we’ll have fun and do pretty good. I’m pretty confident. I think we have a good shot of doing really well this season. We have good chemistry.”

With the Three Rivers League landscape shifting, the Wildcats see an opportunity to capitalize. Defending champions Marmaton Valley have lost several key players, including All-TLR selections Jaedon Granere and Brayden Lawson, creating a more competitive and open field. Coach Panko recognizes the potential for his team, stating, “They’ve been getting after it the past couple of years as freshmen and sophomores. Now, they’re juniors and seniors. It’s really paid off this summer.”

As the kickoff approaches, anticipation builds among the Wildcats and their supporters. The team will soon transition into full pads, marking a crucial phase in their preparation. Fans can expect to see how the hard work translates into performance on the field when they face off in just a few days.

The Yates Center Wildcats are ready to unleash their potential in the Three Rivers League. With their sights set on transforming their record, this season promises to be thrilling for players and fans alike. Stay tuned for updates as the Wildcats embark on their quest for victory starting September 4!
