WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature that enhances user experience by introducing emoji-based sticker suggestions in its latest TestFlight build for iOS. This innovation aims to streamline the process of finding and sending stickers while chatting, allowing users to access relevant stickers more efficiently.

The functionality works in conjunction with the message composer. When a user types an emoji that is associated with specific stickers, a small sticker icon appears to the right of the input field, adjacent to the send button. By tapping this icon, users can view a selection of stickers and GIFs linked to the emoji they have inserted. A “Show more results” option enables users to expand their selection without leaving the conversation, making the process seamless.

According to WABetaInfo, the results shown are based on predefined emoji associations established during the sticker creation process. This means that the feature relies on the metadata added by the sticker creator. Initially, the feature appears to be incompatible with stickers made using WhatsApp’s own built-in sticker creator, which currently does not support emoji associations. However, there is potential for this to change before the feature is officially released.

The introduction of emoji-based sticker suggestions aligns with WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to improve user interaction and engagement. By minimizing the steps required to find and use stickers, WhatsApp hopes to enhance the overall messaging experience for its users.

As the feature continues to be tested, users can expect further updates that may expand its capabilities. This rollout signifies another step in WhatsApp’s evolution as it seeks to integrate more interactive and expressive tools into its platform, catering to the dynamic needs of its global user base.
