Victor Kenneth Perry, a respected community figure and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at the age of 93 in The Woodlands, Texas. Born on December 15, 1931, in Bastrop, Louisiana, he was the son of James Henry Stephen Perry and Annie Lee Breazeale Perry. Perry’s legacy is marked by his commitment to family, community service, and a distinguished professional career.
Perry is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Mary Nell Ludlum Perry, along with their three daughters: Jo Blankenship (Richie), Patti Singer (Tom), and Lynne Sales (Bill). He also leaves behind six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy throughout his life.
A Distinguished Career and Community Involvement
A standout athlete in both basketball and football, Perry graduated from Bastrop High School before attending Louisiana Tech University on a football scholarship. He later earned a degree in Forestry and a master’s degree from Yale University, reflecting his dedication to academia and hard work. His professional journey took him through various roles in the forestry industry, including positions at The Crossett Company in Arkansas and Container Corporation in Alabama. Eventually, he returned to Louisiana, where he worked with Boise Southern and later founded Perry Forest Products, a company that exemplified his strong work ethic and passion for forestry.
Perry’s commitment to community service was evident in his active participation in the United Methodist Church, where he held numerous leadership roles. He served on the Board of Trustees, as a member of the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee, and as Superintendent of Sunday School. His contributions extended beyond the church, as he was also a Boy Scout leader, a Trustee of Beauregard Memorial Hospital, and a member of the Louisiana Forestry Association and the local Rotary Club.
A Life Rich in Passion and Family Values
Outside of his professional and community endeavors, Perry was an avid supporter of LSU football and baseball. He enjoyed golf and bird hunting, and he took great pride in cultivating a garden each year. His family and friends cherished the bounty of his crops, which included kale, beans, tomatoes, citrus fruits, and blueberries.
Victor Perry was known for his quiet strength and integrity. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a playful “Grandaddy” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His legacy is one of service, not only to his family but also to his community and faith. He lived a life defined by devotion, providing for those he loved without seeking recognition.
Funeral services for Victor Kenneth Perry will take place on October 4, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana. Visitation will commence at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Beauregard Cemetery.
