Vicki Gunvalson is officially returning to The Real Housewives of Orange County for its 20th season. The announcement was made on stage during the taping of The Bravos and BravoCon in Las Vegas on November 14, 2023. Gunvalson, known as the “OG of the OC,” was visibly moved when Andy Cohen, the show’s executive producer and host, presented her with an orange and invited her back to the series.
Over her time on the show, Gunvalson has appeared in 14 seasons, contributing to her status as a fan favorite. In January 2020, she announced her departure through a heartfelt Instagram post, expressing gratitude to her supporters. She stated, “I will always be the OG of the OC, but it’s time to say goodbye to The Real Housewives of Orange County. It’s been an incredible ride for 14 years.”
In her farewell message, Gunvalson shared her plans to embark on new projects, including a podcast titled “Whoop it up with Vicki,” which she indicated would launch soon. “I hope you will join me with my new journey so please stay tuned,” she added, thanking Bravo and Evolution for the unforgettable experience.
Rekindled Friendships and Future Dynamics
Recent developments have added excitement to Gunvalson’s return. Reports from Us Weekly indicate that she has reconciled with former co-star Tamra Judge. The two women, who have experienced a tumultuous relationship over the years, have officially put their feud behind them. Judge remarked, “We’ve had a lot of ups and downs in our 20 years. I always say we’re like sisters. It’s that love-hate relationship all the time.”
Gunvalson echoed similar sentiments regarding their relationship, noting, “I don’t think either one of us apologized. We are who we are.” She emphasized her strong opinions on the show, stating, “I can’t do toxic. I told Tamra yesterday, ‘You guys are going into a deep, dark hole. I hate it.’”
Gunvalson’s return comes at a significant time for the series, particularly following her daughter’s comments about her mother’s emotional state post-departure. In a May 2021 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” Gunvalson’s daughter, Briana Culberson, revealed that her mother seemed lost without the show. “I think she’s still adjusting. I don’t think it’s what she really wants for her life,” she said. Culberson expressed concern that her mother misses the camaraderie of the series.
A New Season Ahead
With Gunvalson’s return, fans are eager to see how her dynamic with the current cast, which includes Judge, Shannon Beador, Heather Dubrow, Gina Kirschenheiter, Emily Simpson, Jennifer Pedranti, and Katie Ginella, will unfold. The anticipation surrounding Season 20 is palpable, as Gunvalson’s presence is expected to inject new life into the series.
As the reality television landscape continues to evolve, Gunvalson’s return to RHOC marks a notable moment for long-time fans and newcomers alike. With her rich history on the show and evolving relationships among the cast, viewers can expect a season filled with drama, nostalgia, and excitement.
