The Valley City Area High School Democrats of America (HSDA) will host its inaugural meeting on January 23, 2024, at 5 p.m. in the Norway Room of the student center at Valley City State University, located at 230 Viking Drive. This gathering aims to initiate policy discussions and establish the chapter’s framework, focusing on how local high school students can contribute to their communities through civic engagement.

During the meeting, attendees will explore the structure of the HSDA and its objectives. High school students from the surrounding areas without an existing local chapter are encouraged to join. The organization is particularly appealing to those interested in political activism, campaign support, volunteering, and using social media for advocacy.

Carter Hass, a senior at Valley City High School and founder of the Valley City Area HSDA Chapter, emphasized the importance of providing a platform for Generation Z voices. “It’s crucial that our generation has a space to amplify our concerns and solutions,” he stated. The HSDA aims to foster civic engagement among students, allowing them to enact peaceful and meaningful changes in their communities.

The chapter welcomes all high school students, regardless of their political affiliations. “Our generation needs serious unity, and this is the best way to unite,” Hass noted. He described his involvement with the HSDA as a blessing, highlighting how political organizing can embody the essence of patriotism.

Members of the press are also invited to attend the meeting, where the chapter will outline its commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders. By providing an inclusive environment for discussion and action, the Valley City Area HSDA seeks to inspire young individuals to take part in the democratic process.

As the first meeting approaches, enthusiasm builds among participants eager to make their voices heard and contribute to positive change in their communities.
