BREAKING: Human remains were discovered on Saturday in a shallow grave behind an abandoned school in Germantown, Philadelphia, during the ongoing search for Kada Scott, a 23-year-old woman missing for two weeks. The remains, yet to be identified, were located near Awbury Arboretum after police received a “very specific” anonymous tip early Saturday morning.
Authorities returned to the wooded area around 10 a.m. local time to conduct further searches, as confirmed by John Stanford, First Deputy Commissioner of the Philadelphia Police Department. “We have been in communication with her family,” he stated, acknowledging the gravity of the situation.
Kada Scott was last seen on October 4, 2023, by her mother as she left for her nursing home job. She was reported missing the following day, with police expressing heightened concern due to troubling phone calls Scott had received prior to her disappearance.
“In the days leading up to her disappearance, Ms. Scott related to her family and friends that an unknown individual had been harassing her via phone,”
said Capt. John Craig during a press conference last week.
Previously, Keon King, 21, was charged with kidnapping in connection to Scott’s case. Authorities believe he was the last person in contact with her shortly after she left work. His vehicle, a 1999 metallic-gold Toyota Camry with Pennsylvania license plate MSX-0797, was located in an apartment lot after tips from the public led police to significant evidence.
The remains’ discovery has intensified the urgency of the investigation. Scott’s father, Kevin Scott, expressed the family’s hope, stating, “It’s been extremely difficult. We keep faith that she’s going to be found and hopefully no harm is done to her.”
As the investigation unfolds, police continue to seek information from the public. The medical examiner’s office is currently working to identify the remains, which could provide crucial answers in this heartbreaking case.
