Owner Joe Gomez expressed his devastation, stating, “They pretty much just destroyed my business in two minutes, three minutes.” Surveillance footage reveals the brazen burglars smashing their way into the barbershop on East Florence Avenue, swiftly tearing through workstations and making off with thousands of dollars in cash, barber tools, and inventory.
The loss of Simba, a cherished Savannah cat and the shop’s mascot, has hit Gomez particularly hard. “They ran to the back, took the cat, and carelessly just threw him on the back of the car,” he lamented. The heartbreaking video captures the moment the masked thieves abducted Simba, leaving him frantically searching for help.
In total, Gomez estimates the financial damage to be around $14,000, which includes stolen cash set aside for the shop’s fantasy football leagues.
