BREAKING: A wave of criminal activity has struck Salisbury, with multiple incidents reported over the past week, raising alarms among local residents. The Salisbury Police Department is actively investigating these unsettling events, including thefts, shoplifting, and drug-related charges.
Just hours ago, police confirmed a larceny from a motor vehicle occurred in the 400 block of Park Avenue between 6 p.m. on January 23 and 10:25 a.m. on January 28, resulting in an estimated loss of $10. In a separate incident, shoplifting was reported at 10:42 a.m. on January 28 in the 100 block of Mahaley Avenue, with a total estimated loss of $8.
Authorities also reported a possession of marijuana in the 500 block of East Innes Street at 12:39 p.m. on January 28. This comes amid escalating concerns about public safety in the area. Additionally, two trespassing incidents occurred: one in the 300 block of South Arlington Street at 6:53 p.m. on January 26, and another at 1:50 a.m. on January 29 in the 600 block of Mocksville Avenue.
In a significant development, police charged Julia Elizabeth Clawson, 35, with felony theft of a motor vehicle and felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance on January 28. This arrest marks a critical step in addressing ongoing criminal activities in Salisbury.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating related incidents, including vandalism reported at West Rice Street in Landis at 7:50 a.m. on January 27, and another trespassing incident at Woodleaf Road, Salisbury at 3:58 a.m. on January 25, reported on January 27. Additionally, a theft of a motor vehicle occurred at Pineview Circle between 3 p.m. on January 22 and 1:27 p.m. on January 27.
