UPDATE: Over 44,000 NordicTrack RW900 rowing machines are facing an urgent recall after alarming reports of overheating and fire hazards. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission confirmed the recall on October 16, 2025, following eight incidents linked to the machine’s screen console, which has shown a dangerous tendency to ignite.
The recall affects machines sold between 2018 and 2022. Users reported six cases of smoke emission and melting screens, along with two confirmed fires. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, but the incidents have resulted in over $6,000 in property damage.
Affected models include serial numbers from NTRW19147.0 to NTRW19147.3. Consumers can find this number on a sticker located near the base of the machine. These rowing machines were available for purchase online and in stores at major retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, and Dick’s Sporting Goods, as well as directly from NordicTrack’s website.
In response to the situation, NordicTrack, a subsidiary of iFIT Inc., is offering a free home repair service. However, users must book appointments through their trained technicians, as do-it-yourself fixes will not be permitted. Customers can reach NordicTrack by calling 833-680-4348 or visiting their website to schedule a repair.
This is not the first time NordicTrack has faced issues with its equipment. In 2024, the company recalled smart dumbbells that malfunctioned, raising concerns about product reliability.
As public awareness grows, consumers are advised to check their rowing machines immediately and reach out to NordicTrack for guidance. The safety of their homes and well-being may depend on it.
