The University of Tulsa’s Center for Real Estate Studies is actively redefining the educational landscape for real estate students through innovative learning experiences and community partnerships. Recently, the center introduced a new course called Real Estate Market Analysis, designed to equip students with essential skills used by industry professionals.

In spring 2025, students will apply these analytical tools in practical scenarios, conducting market and investment analyses for local entities, including the Tulsa Market District, Fair Oaks, and CloudHaus. This hands-on approach is fundamental to the center’s mission of experiential learning, which remains a key focus throughout the academic year.

Students have engaged in various site visits, exploring projects such as the office-to-multifamily conversions by Price Family Properties in downtown Tulsa. They also visited Flintco, which is constructing the new Gilcrease Museum, and Ashton Gray’s development of a medical surgical center in South Tulsa. These experiences allow students to witness firsthand the dynamic environment of real estate development.

In February, a group of 20 students traveled to Oklahoma City to attend the ULI Impact Awards. This event provided opportunities for students to network with alumni and potential employers while engaging with the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission. Additionally, in May, eight students represented the University of Tulsa at the ICSC national conference in Las Vegas, the largest commercial real estate event in the United States. This exposure enabled students to learn about emerging retail trends and connect with leading professionals in the field.

The center also furthered its mission through a summer project under the Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge. Led by business faculty members and real estate experts Meagan McCollum, the director of the center, and Cayman Seagraves, this initiative focused on developing early detection methods for housing blight in Tulsa. The findings aim to inform more responsive and equitable local housing policies.

As the real estate industry continues to evolve, the Center for Real Estate Studies positions students from the University of Tulsa at the forefront of the sector through applied academics, innovative research, and robust local connections. By bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice, the center is setting a new standard for real estate education.
