UPDATE: United Airlines has just announced a groundbreaking seasonal service that will connect Maine to California with nonstop flights from the Portland International Jetport to Los Angeles and San Francisco. Starting on June 27, flights will operate once a week on Saturdays, marking a historic first for the jetport.

Travelers can look forward to flying aboard a Boeing 737, which accommodates between 126 and 179 passengers. Tickets for this eagerly awaited service will go on sale tomorrow, promising a new level of convenience for those wanting to travel to the West Coast during Maine’s peak tourism season.

“This new route connects us with two of our top unserved markets and provides incredibly easy access to and from the West Coast,” said Zach Sundquist, assistant airport director. This development is especially significant as it expands the jetport’s offerings to include direct flights to United’s seven domestic hubs this summer.

In addition to the new California routes, the Portland International Jetport will also maintain its Saturday service to Houston and daily flights to major cities including Chicago, Denver, New York City, and Washington D.C..

“This announcement from United is a first for the Portland Jetport,” stated Paul Bradbury, airport director. The introduction of direct flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco not only enhances travel options but also boosts the local economy by attracting tourists to Maine.

With the summer travel season fast approaching, this new service is expected to be in high demand. For travelers eager to explore California’s vibrant cities, now is the time to plan your trip.
