UPDATE: Two suspects are in custody following the recovery of a stolen Amazon delivery van packed with Christmas presents. The incident unfolded earlier today, December 22, when Nottinghamshire Police received a report of the missing van around 11:30 a.m. from Kilton Hill.

Authorities acted quickly, utilizing the van’s onboard tracker to initiate a pursuit down the A1 towards Newark. Surveillance from automatic number plate recognition cameras revealed a Peugeot van traveling in tandem with the Amazon delivery vehicle, raising further suspicions.

Upon arriving in Newark, police discovered the abandoned Amazon van on Kings Road, intact with all parcels still onboard. A thorough search led to the arrest of a 21-year-old man on suspicion of vehicle theft and burglary. The investigation continued as the team tracked the Peugeot to Tolney Lane, where a second suspect, a 24-year-old man, was apprehended under the same charges.

Both suspects have been released on police bail as the investigation develops. Sergeant Mark Talbot from the neighbourhood policing team praised the officers for their swift action, stating,

“Officers responding to this incident did a fantastic job to not only recover the stolen van, but also detain two suspects. We’re also glad we managed to track down the missing parcels just in time for Christmas.”

The police emphasized the seriousness of vehicle theft, noting its potential impact on the livelihoods of victims. As the investigation continues, authorities urge anyone with additional information to come forward.
