A memorial service for conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was tragically assassinated on September 10, 2023, will feature remarks from both President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. This announcement was made on Tuesday by Turning Point USA, the organization founded by Kirk. The service is set to take place at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, which has a capacity of over 63,000 attendees.

The memorial is scheduled for Sunday, with doors opening at 08:00 local time and the program commencing at 11:00 local time. The event will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, and attendees are encouraged to dress in “Sunday Best – Red, White, or Blue.” In addition to Trump and Vance, a number of notable figures are expected to speak, including Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Trump expressed his intention to attend the memorial, describing the loss as a “very sad weekend” and recognizing Kirk as a “great person.” He added, “We’re going to Arizona, taking some people with us, on Air Force One.” During the service, Trump will posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, honoring his contributions to the conservative movement.

Kirk was shot and killed during an event at Utah Valley University. Following the incident, authorities arrested Tyler Robinson, 22, on suspicion of murder. Robinson faces multiple charges, including aggravated murder, and the state of Utah is seeking the death penalty.

The memorial service is anticipated to draw a large crowd, reflecting Kirk’s influence and connections within conservative circles. As the event approaches, it highlights the ongoing impact of his work and the significant loss felt among his supporters.
