TikTok has launched a test feature that allows users to manage the amount of AI-generated content they encounter in their video feeds. This new control, which will appear under the “Manage topics” section, is part of the app’s ongoing efforts to enhance user experience and content curation.

The AI slider will enable users to adjust their preferences for AI content, similar to existing controls for topics such as dance, current affairs, and fitness. Users will have two options to increase or decrease their exposure to AI-generated videos. This feature is designed to provide more personalized content delivery, catering to individual user preferences.

To support this new feature, TikTok is also implementing invisible watermarks on AI-generated content. This step aims to ensure that users can identify AI material more easily, especially given the challenges of visible watermarks being removed by creators. Content produced with TikTok’s own tools, like AI Editor Pro, will include these watermarks, along with any videos uploaded according to C2PA Content Credentials, an industry-standard for authentication.

The introduction of these features reflects TikTok’s recognition of the growing demand for transparency in AI content. Currently, the AI content control is in the testing phase and is expected to roll out over the coming weeks.
