The director of *The Witcher 3*, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, is approaching the release of his new role-playing game, *The Blood of Dawnwalker*, with confidence, despite the anticipated arrival of *Grand Theft Auto 6*. In an interview with GamesRadar+, Tomaszkiewicz stated that he does not feel threatened by the powerful marketing machine behind *GTA 6*, which many in the gaming industry view as a formidable competitor.

While numerous developers have adjusted their release schedules to avoid overlap with *GTA 6*, the atmosphere surrounding such decisions varies. In September, several indie titles, including *Hollow Knight: Silksong*, *Clover Pit*, and *Demonschool*, chose to change their launch dates in response to Team Cherry’s surprise announcement. Major game developers have expressed similar concerns, with one industry analyst describing the move to release alongside *GTA 6* as akin to “suicide.”

Tomaszkiewicz, now the head of Rebel Wolves, is taking a different stance. He plans for *The Blood of Dawnwalker* to launch in the same year as *GTA 6*. “I think that the whole industry is observing GTA, because it is the GTA,” he remarked. “This is the massive game with massive marketing and so on. And I mean, as a player, I’m fine with it. I will play for sure. As a developer, it’s also fine. We’ll see.”

This perspective highlights a level of assurance that contrasts sharply with the anxiety felt by other developers. The CEO of Helldivers 2 expressed that *GTA 6* will “blot out the sun in a way that is unimaginable for the rest of us,” a sentiment echoed by the design lead of *Saints Row*, who asserted that no open-world developer can effectively compete with Rockstar Games.

As the gaming landscape evolves, it remains to be seen how *The Blood of Dawnwalker* will perform against such a heavyweight release. The development team at Rebel Wolves aims to leverage their efficiency and innovation to carve out a space for their project. Tomaszkiewicz emphasized that he does not intend to expand the studio significantly, stating, “We are more effective than bigger teams.”

With *The Blood of Dawnwalker* slated for release next year, the gaming community watches closely. Will Tomaszkiewicz’s bold strategy pay off, or will the shadow of *GTA 6* loom too large? Only time will tell as the two games prepare to enter the spotlight.
