UPDATE: Takkion has just announced a significant expansion at Fuller Industries Inc. in Great Bend, Kansas, leasing an additional 30,000 square feet of warehouse space for renewable energy logistics. This urgent development comes as Fuller clears out decades of obsolete machinery to optimize operations.

Weighing up to 60,000 pounds each, massive wind turbine components are now stored in Fuller’s facility, a sign of the booming renewable energy sector. The Casper, Wyoming-based Takkion, which has increased its total leased area to 80,000 square feet, specializes in logistics and services for renewable energy projects across the United States. “These parts are crucial for upcoming initiatives nationwide,” stated Takkion Site Manager Nick Coghill.

Previously occupying 50,000 square feet in the southeast corner, Takkion’s upgraded lease allows for a more centralized location within the facility, enhancing efficiency as they manage generators, control units, transformers, and other essential components.

This partnership is a major win for Fuller Industries, as General Manager Joe Mann remarked, “It’s another source of revenue for us. This way, unused space gets utilized.” Fuller Industries, a legacy manufacturer dating back over a century to the Fuller Brush days, has been actively working with Great Bend Economic Development Inc. to market its extensive leasing opportunities.

With a vast 600,000 square feet of space available, Fuller is reshaping its operational landscape. The company is not only expanding its product lines but also clearing out outdated equipment that has accumulated over the years. “We have a lot of stuff out there,” Mann noted. “Most of it is no longer of use.”

Fuller has dedicated months to selling, scrapping, and recycling decades of industrial relics, even hiring a specialized team for this purpose. “We are shuffling things around, consolidating and reorganizing our production spaces,” Mann explained. This strategic move aims to enhance workflow efficiency and make room for new products.

The impact of this leasing expansion and space reorganization extends beyond Fuller Industries and Takkion. It reflects a broader trend in the renewable energy sector, highlighting the increasing demand for logistics and storage solutions as clean energy projects surge in response to global climate initiatives.

As Fuller Industries embarks on this transformative journey, stakeholders and local businesses are eager to see how this will shape the future of manufacturing and logistics in Great Bend.
