Students 2 Science

Students 2 Science (S2S) celebrated a significant milestone on October 7, 2025, with the grand opening of the Apollo Technology Center in Whippany, New Jersey. This new facility aims to enhance access to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education for students across the state, welcoming its first cohort of learners just days after the inauguration.

The Apollo Technology Center, located at One Apollo Drive, is designed to provide hands-on learning experiences utilizing advanced laboratory equipment found in professional settings. The center will support a variety of programs, including the new Improving Student Affinity and Aptitude for Careers in STEM (ISAAC) initiative tailored for elementary students in grades 3 to 5. Additionally, a state-of-the-art production studio will expand the Virtual Lab (V-Lab) Program for students in grades 3 to 12.

Expanding STEM Opportunities in New Jersey

With programming designed for middle school and high school students, the Apollo Technology Center will host Middle School STEM ISAAC Days for grades 6 to 8 and High School Career ISAAC Days for grades 9 to 12. Furthermore, plans are underway for a new STEM Summer Camp set to launch in Summer 2026.

To support educators, S2S will introduce a new Educator Professional Development Program aimed at enhancing the skills of current K-12 teachers and assisting those beginning their careers in laboratory fundamentals. “This venture was a community effort. The S2S community of champions came together to fund the project, outfit the Center with cutting-edge instrumentation and furnishings, and provide services to complete construction and get our laboratories operating. We could not have accomplished this amazing feat without everyone coming together. We look forward to serving over 100,000 students annually,” said Paul A. Winslow, President and Co-Founder of Students 2 Science.

Community Support and Corporate Partnerships

The Apollo Technology Center represents a collaborative effort among various stakeholders, including prominent STEM corporations that have supported S2S for more than a decade. Thermo Fisher Scientific, a leader in scientific solutions, sponsored the ISAAC Laboratories, which encompass eight distinct labs dedicated to student education. The PSEG Foundation contributed to the development of new curriculum and program expansion for students in grades 3 to 6.

Additionally, the Sanofi Workforce Training & Development Lab, funded by Sanofi, will provide students and community members with opportunities to engage in practical experiences that reflect real-world applications, ultimately shaping the future of STEM industries. “The Apollo Technology Center is more than a building—it’s a promise of STEM opportunity made possible by our partners and community. As we welcome the first students, we are turning possibility into practice with real labs, real mentors, and clear pathways to careers that will power New Jersey’s future workforce,” remarked Karnel Walker, Board Chair of the S2S Board of Trustees.

Since its establishment in 2009, Students 2 Science has reached nearly 300,000 students through both virtual and in-person programming. The organization collaborates with over 190 schools, school districts, charter networks, and community organizations to deliver immersive STEM education, positioning itself as a vital contributor to the development of the future workforce.

The Apollo Technology Center stands as a testament to the commitment of S2S and its partners to inspire and empower students through hands-on learning, paving the way for future careers in STEM fields.
