Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez, the now-former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, recently expressed their desire for WWE to increase the number of live events. During an appearance on the podcast Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg, the duo reflected on their experiences and the unique atmosphere of house shows.
Rodriguez, when asked if she misses participating in house shows since her promotion to the main roster in 2022, responded affirmatively. “A big part of me, actually,” she said, highlighting her recent experiences. “We just did a big super show in Texas and had that little loop, which was really cool and fun because we got to go to our hometowns.” She added that they also performed at a super show in Mexico City and Monterrey, describing the crowds as “the hottest” she has encountered.
The former champions believe that house shows provide invaluable opportunities for growth and connection with fans. “I do miss them. I feel like there are missed opportunities,” Rodriguez stated. “Being a part of the fans, bettering ourselves as a tag team, working together and getting those reps that we haven’t had before. I think we should do more of them.”
Perez echoed Rodriguez’s sentiments, noting the pressures of performing live on television. “It’s definitely nerve-wracking to try things on live TV. So, it’s fun to be able to try things at live events,” she said, emphasizing the importance of practice in front of audiences.
WWE announced in September 2022 that the organization would be reducing the number of non-televised events. So far in 2025, excluding NXT house shows in Florida, WWE has scheduled only 10 non-televised events. Six of these took place during a European tour in March, two were held in Texas last month, and the remaining events occurred last weekend in Mexico.
Looking ahead, WWE has five European live events planned for this month, leading up to the highly anticipated Clash in Paris, along with two scheduled for Sumo Hall in Tokyo in October.
For fans and wrestlers alike, the absence of more frequent house shows remains a topic of discussion within the wrestling community.
