Rode has unveiled its latest innovation, the Wireless Micro Camera Kit, designed to enhance audio quality for content creators. This new kit offers significant improvements in versatility and ease of use, featuring universal compatibility with modern camera systems and an upgraded receiver unit that includes an integrated display.

The original Wireless Micro was aimed at smartphone users, providing a compact solution for high-quality audio. With the new kit, Rode expands its functionality, allowing compatibility with a broader range of devices while maintaining its connection to mobile phones. The redesigned receiver unit enhances user experience by providing crucial controls and visibility, a notable upgrade from the previous model that lacked these features.

Rode emphasizes that this release builds on the success of the award-winning Wireless Micro, which transformed smartphone content creation. The company states, “The new Camera Kit takes the same celebrated pristine audio quality, simplicity, and portability, and expands its capabilities to include second-generation universal camera connectivity, catering to a broader set of content creators.”

Enhanced Features and Usability

The new receiver unit is designed for full-size cameras, incorporating both 3.5mm TRS and USB-C outputs. Its larger size accommodates a 1.1-inch AMOLED display, granting content creators more control over settings, a significant feature missing from the previous setup. This screen allows for quick adjustments on the go, while an integrated cold shoe mount ensures stability when attached to cameras.

The transmitter system retains its high-quality audio capabilities, featuring built-in microphones in each of the two units that automatically pair with the receiver. Each transmitter has an omnidirectional pickup pattern, capturing sound from all directions. Additionally, the technology includes Intelligent GainAssist, which automatically balances audio levels, enhancing the overall recording quality.

Transmitter units are equipped with integrated clips and magnetic mounts, along with internal and external windshields to minimize wind noise and plosives. The entire system fits neatly into a compact charging case, providing up to 21 hours of total usage from two full recharges.

The receiver is designed for convenience, automatically powering on and off when connected or disconnected from a camera. Rode has also announced that the original camera receiver will remain available for customers who purchased a Wireless Micro USB-C or Lightning configuration before October 30, 2025.

Availability and Pricing

The Rode Wireless Micro Camera Kit is now available for purchase at a price of $149. Although the first-generation camera receiver is not included in the new kit, it can be purchased separately for those who wish to use it alongside the new features.

With this latest release, Rode aims to solidify its position in the content creation market, providing tools that enhance audio quality and user experience for both amateur and professional creators.
