The Rockford IceHogs are set to host the AHL All-Star Classic on February 7 and 8, 2026, at the BMO Center, promising a vibrant showcase of talent and entertainment. The two-night event is expected to attract hockey fans and sports enthusiasts alike, featuring a series of engaging activities before, during, and after the games. Rockford defenseman Kevin Korchinski, who will make his second consecutive appearance in the All-Star Classic, expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “Everybody is going to see what we have to offer around here. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

The IceHogs enter the All-Star break following a 3-1 victory against Milwaukee, although they currently hold a record of 17-26-2 and face challenges in their quest for a postseason berth. As the team prepares for the second half of the season, the All-Star Classic offers a welcome distraction and a chance to celebrate hockey.

Highlights of the All-Star Events

The festivities will kick off with the 2026 AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 19:00 on Tuesday, February 7. This event will feature All-Stars from the Eastern and Western Conference competing in seven exciting skills challenges, including the Inglasco Puck Control Relay and CCM Fastest Skater. Notable performances will include legendary Chicago singer Wayne Messmer, who will sing the “Star-Spangled Banner,” while Jim Cornelison will perform both “O Canada” and the national anthem before the AHL All-Star Challenge on February 8.

The All-Star Challenge, taking place on Wednesday, will consist of a 3-on-3 round-robin tournament featuring four teams. The tournament includes six games of eight minutes each, culminating in a championship match between the two teams with the best records.

Among the All-Star participants, Korchinski and forward Nick Lardis were originally selected for the rosters, while team captain Brett Seney was recently added to the Central Division lineup. Seney leads the IceHogs with 35 points (10 goals, 25 assists) in his fourth season with the team. Korchinski, who was named AHL All-Star Classic MVP last year, is eager to showcase his skills again.

Community Engagement and Entertainment

In addition to the on-ice action, the All-Star Classic offers various community events. The AHL Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Ceremony will take place at the Coronado Theater on February 8 at 11:00, hosted by ESPN Sportcenter anchor Nicole Briscoe. This year’s inductees include Chris Bourque, Alexandre Giroux, Jim Wiemer, and Wendell Young, alongside honorary captains and Chicago Blackhawks legends Patrick Sharp and Kris Versteeg. Admission to the ceremony is free, allowing fans to celebrate the achievements of these hockey greats.

Postgame parties at the Hard Rock Casino-Rockford will follow the skills competition and challenge, featuring live music from Nauti-Nauti and 7th Heaven. The parties are open to all ages, with a nominal fee of $10 for entry. Additionally, a free block party at the BMO Center will take place from 16:00 to 17:30 on both nights, welcoming fans to enjoy the festivities.
