The 2025 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, a majestic 75-foot Norway Spruce, has made its way from East Greenbush, New York, just outside Albany. This year’s tree, donated by the Russ family, marks a return to local roots as it becomes part of the city’s iconic holiday tradition. Judy Russ, a resident of the historic family home, expressed her excitement, stating, “I’m excited to make more cherished memories with my family and childhood friends as it becomes the world’s Christmas tree.”

The impressive tree stands 75 feet tall, weighs 11 tons, and boasts a diameter of 45 feet, according to information from Rockefeller Center. It will arrive in Midtown Manhattan on November 8, 2025, during the annual “Meet the Tree Day,” allowing New Yorkers and visitors to get their first glimpse before the festive season officially begins.

Last year, the tree originated from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, marking the first time since 1959 that the iconic spruce came from that state. The 80-foot Norway Spruce lit up the skyline during a televised ceremony and remained on display until mid-January, attracting thousands of visitors.

Once the New York-grown tree arrives, it will be adorned with more than 50,000 colorful LED lights and topped with a stunning Swarovski star. The much-anticipated lighting ceremony is scheduled for December 3, 2025, and the tree will stay on display until mid-January, continuing the cherished holiday tradition that draws crowds from around the world.

The selection of the tree and its upcoming display signal the start of the holiday season in New York City, bringing joy and excitement to both locals and tourists alike. With its rich history and local significance, the 2025 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree promises to be a centerpiece of festive celebrations in the heart of Manhattan.
