UPDATE: The Ridgewater College volleyball team delivered a thrilling comeback, overcoming a first-set loss to secure a 3-1 victory over Western Technical College on Saturday. This decisive win, with set scores of 17-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-16, reinforces Ridgewater’s position in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC).

Ridgewater’s overall record now stands at 9-11, while the Warriors are 7-7 in the South Division of the MCAC. Meanwhile, Western Tech from LaCrosse, Wisconsin, remains at 7-7 in conference play and 13-13 overall.

Star of the match, Rachel Jakel, showcased her exceptional skills with a remarkable 18 kills and 18 digs. The sophomore outside hitter and Renville County West graduate from Svea proved instrumental in her team’s triumph.

Freshman setter Johanna Braun, another standout performance, achieved a career-best with 46 set assists, accompanied by 13 digs. Braun’s previous record was 45 assists in a match against Anoka-Ramsey Community College on September 27.

The Warriors also saw significant contributions from Ellie Moulton, Martha Steinhagen, and Kori Bristle, all of whom reached double figures in kills. Moulton racked up 11 kills and 13 digs, while Steinhagen added 10 kills, 14 digs, and a team-high of four aces. Bristle, making her mark as a freshman middle blocker, achieved 10 kills and a team-leading 2.5 blocks.

Looking ahead, Ridgewater is set to host St. Cloud Technical and Community College for another crucial MCAC matchup at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Willmar. Fans can expect another intense showdown as the Warriors aim to build on their recent success.
