URGENT UPDATE: The Richmond RCMP is intensifying its search for information regarding the unsolved homicide of 21-year-old Kim Stolberg, who was tragically found stabbed to death on December 4, 1985. With over 40 years having passed, authorities believe new leads may emerge from the public.

Just before her death, Stolberg was speaking on the phone with her sister at the family’s office, situated on River Road between Capstan Way and Cambie Road. Around 8 p.m., she reported an unfamiliar individual entering the office. That was the last time her sister heard from her. Approximately an hour later, she was found dead inside the building.

Staff Sgt. Gene Hsieh, the Major Crime Commander with the Richmond RCMP, emphasized the urgency of the appeal: “Forty years have passed, but our commitment to finding answers for Kim and her family has not diminished. We have investigative tools today that we didn’t have in 1985. Even a small detail, remembered now, could be the key to finding whoever was responsible for Kim’s death.”

In an effort to solicit new information, the Richmond RCMP has released a short video outlining the details of the case and the ongoing investigation. This video aims to engage both current residents and those who may have moved away over the decades but still possess vital information.

The Richmond RCMP urges anyone with information to step forward. “Viewers are encouraged to share the video to help reach a broad audience,” the department stated. Your insights could make a significant difference in this cold case.
