Ann Marie Maglione, a dedicated Liberal Democrat and beloved member of her community, passed away on December 16, 2025. She was 86 years old and left behind a legacy of joy, resilience, and deep connections with family and friends.

Born in 1939 in Scotia, New York, Ann spent her formative years in the area before moving to Albany. Her teenage years were marked by typical activities of youth, fostering friendships that would last a lifetime. Ann maintained these connections, participating in regular luncheons with her classmates well into her 85th year.

Throughout her life, Ann faced adversity, including a debilitating illness that lasted for 15 years. Remarkably, she regained her health and embraced life with renewed vigor. After 1976, she immersed herself in a variety of activities, such as biking, ushering at Proctors Theatre, and attending performances at Tanglewood and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC). Her passion for volunteering with various non-profits and frequent trips to Cape Cod and Italy further enriched her later years.

In her “second childhood,” Ann enjoyed a fulfilling career at the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA), retiring at the age of 65. She was known for her hospitality, often preparing Thanksgiving dinners for a dozen guests and taking regular trips to New York City for Broadway shows. Visits to her brother and sister-in-law in Massachusetts were cherished, particularly the cultural experiences in Boston’s North End.

Though Ann never married, she found immense joy in her relationships with her cousins’ children. She delighted in taking them for pizza and ice cream, organizing berry-picking trips, and enjoying picnics at Grafton Lake. The children affectionately called her “Auntie Ann,” a title she held dear.

Ann’s life was marked by the strength of her connections. She was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Theresa Maglione, her cousins Mary and Joe De LaCruz, and her sister-in-law Sandra Geffert. She is survived by her brother Anthony, along with cousins Robert, Phil, Joe, and Maria De LaCruz and their families, as well as Gemma Petti and her extended family.

A Mass in Ann’s memory is scheduled for Spring 2026, with private interment at Albany Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of residents in the Albany area, reflecting Ann’s commitment to community and kindness.
