Prince George, aged 12, made his debut at the Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance on November 8, 2025. He attended the event alongside his mother, Princess Kate Middleton, at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London. The event is an annual tribute to the military veterans who have served the Commonwealth.
The royal family gathered in a special box, which included King Charles III and Queen Camilla, Prince Edward, and Duchess Sophie. For this significant occasion, George wore a black suit complemented by a striped tie and a poppy pin on his lapel, symbolizing remembrance. Princess Kate, 43, also donned a poppy pin, pairing it with a stylish black dress featuring a white Peter Pan collar.
Traditionally, November is a time for reflection in the U.K., where many citizens wear poppies to honour those who have served in the armed forces. Princess Kate and her husband, Prince William, typically attend the Festival of Remembrance together. However, William was absent this year due to his ongoing commitments in Brazil for the Earthshot Prize Awards.
The royal couple has faced personal challenges recently. In early 2024, Princess Kate was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer. After undergoing chemotherapy, she announced in January 2025 that she was in remission. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she expressed gratitude to The Royal Marsden for their exceptional care throughout her treatment. She stated, “I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year.”
In her message, she acknowledged the support she received during a difficult time, emphasizing the need for patience as she adjusted to a new normal. “It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery,” she shared. The duchess highlighted the challenges faced after treatment, noting that the transition can be particularly tough.
During an appearance at Colchester Hospital in July, Princess Kate discussed the emotional complexities of cancer recovery. She explained, “You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult.”
Prince William also addressed the family’s approach to coping with these challenges in a recent episode of Eugene Levy’s Apple TV+ series. He noted the importance of providing security and reassurance to their children, stating, “We try to make sure we give them the security and the safety that they need. We’re a very open family, so we talk about things that bother us.”
As the royal family continues to navigate their personal trials, their public appearances, such as at the Festival of Remembrance, serve as poignant reminders of both their commitment to public service and the resilience they embody in facing life’s challenges.
