The pop-punk band The Cab has officially reunited and is set to release their first new music in over a decade. The group announced that their upcoming four-track EP, titled “Road to Reign: A Prelude,” will be available on September 26, 2023. This marks their first release since the 2014 EP “Lock Me Up,” and comes more than 14 years after their last full-length album, “Symphony Soldier,” which was released in 2011.

In a heartfelt message on Facebook, The Cab expressed their excitement about returning to the music scene, stating, “We know it took a while. But the long road led us right back to you. What was fractured can heal. What was silent can scream.” They emphasized that this new release symbolizes their revival, declaring, “On September 26th, our heart will beat again. It’s time. The prelude is here.”

While the announcement has generated considerable buzz, it remains uncertain whether this “prelude” hints at a forthcoming full-length album. Earlier this year, The Cab re-entered the spotlight with a reunion tour, opening for All Time Low, alongside performances at the popular When We Were Young Festival.

The band was originally formed in Las Vegas during the 2000s, featuring lead singer Alexander DeLeon, keyboardist and guitarist Alex T. Marshall, and bassist Joey Thunder. They made their debut with the studio album “Whisper War”, released under Fueled by Ramen/Decaydance in 2008. That same year, they were recognized by Alternative Press magazine as “The Band You Need to Know.”

The Cab gained significant popularity during the MySpace and Warped Tour era, blending genres such as alternative rock, pop-punk, electropop, and dance. Their hits, including “One of THOSE Nights,” “Angel with a Shotgun,” “Temporary Bliss,” “Stand Up,” “La La,” and “Endlessly,” helped to solidify their status in the music industry. Today, the band still boasts an impressive 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

In addition to his work with The Cab, DeLeon has also made a name for himself as a solo artist under the moniker Bohnes. His single “Middle Finger,” released in 2015, has garnered more than 163 million streams on Spotify, showcasing his continued influence in the music scene.

As anticipation builds for their new EP, fans are eager to see what The Cab has in store for them after years of silence. The band’s resurgence signals a promising return to form for a beloved group that has shaped the pop-punk landscape over the years.
