The Pokémon Company officially announced the launch of its first permanent outdoor theme park, named PokéPark KANTO, set to open on February 5, 2026. This new attraction will be established by refurbishing existing facilities and developing previously unused areas within Yomiuriland, located in the scenic Tama Hills area of Tokyo. Covering approximately 2.6 hectares (around 26,000 m²), the park aims to immerse visitors in the vibrant world of Pokémon, featuring environments inspired by natural landscapes and urban settings.
One of the standout features of PokéPark KANTO will be the “Pokémon Forest,” a woodland trail spanning approximately 500 meters. This area will include varied terrain with elevation changes, tall grass, tunnels, and mountain paths designed to create a realistic experience where guests can “encounter” Pokémon in a natural setting.
Inside the themed area known as “Sedge Town,” visitors will find numerous attractions, including the Primarina Fountain, a Pokémon Center, a Poké Mart, and a Gym. At the Pokémon Center, guests can interact with a healing machine, while the Poké Mart will offer beverages inspired by Pokémon moves. Additionally, the “Pokémon Trainers’ Market” will feature original merchandise and food options, along with attractions like “Pika Pika Paradise” and “Vee Vee Voyage.”
The park will also host a “Pokémon Playhouse,” where visitors can meet a variety of Pokémon each day. A special parade featuring popular characters such as Pikachu and Eevee will take place in Sedge Town, promising an engaging experience for fans of all ages.
Tickets for PokéPark KANTO will go on sale at 18:00 on November 21. There are two types of passes available: the “Ace Trainer’s Pass” and the “Trainer’s Pass.” Both ticket types will grant admission to Yomiuriland, making it a comprehensive offering for visitors.
Safety measures will be implemented throughout the park, especially in the Pokémon Forest, which utilizes the natural topography of the area and includes stairs and steep sections. Due to these features, access may be restricted for children under 5 years old and certain other guests for safety reasons. Additionally, a “Town Pass” for exclusive access to Sedge Town is scheduled to be available starting in summer 2026.
For more information, including details about attractions and ticketing, interested guests can visit the official PokéPark KANTO website and its social media channels. This announcement marks a significant expansion of the Pokémon brand, promising a unique blend of adventure and nostalgia for fans worldwide.
