BREAKING: Philip Craig Donecker, just 26 years old, has passed away after a brave fight against illness on September 6, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. Surrounded by family and friends, his loss is felt deeply across his community and beyond.

Born on July 9, 1999, in Hays, Kansas, Philip was a master installer for Renewal by Anderson and a proud graduate of Central Plains High School, Class of 2018. He later earned his associate’s degree in construction management from North Central Kansas Tech, further establishing his commitment to hard work and excellence.

Philip was more than just a skilled professional; he was a beacon of light for those around him. A resident of Wichita, he cherished his upbringing in Claflin, where he formed lasting relationships that enriched his life. A devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church, Philip was known for his unwavering faith and vibrant spirit.

His passions included snowboarding, golfing, football, hunting, and nurturing plants, hobbies that reflected his zest for life. Philip, affectionately known by many nicknames, was not only a loving brother but a dedicated friend, serving as the heart of a close-knit group that spanned his entire life.

Philip is survived by his parents, Jeff and Megan Donecker of Claflin, and Michelle Smee and husband Chris of Hill City. He leaves behind his beloved sisters, JoAnna, Caitlin, Natalie, and Emily Smee, along with numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his cherished dog, Sky. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Central Plains Junior-Senior High School in Claflin, presided over by Pastor Kenton Abbott and Pastor Daniel Harders. Interment will follow at Claflin Cemetery.

Visitation is scheduled for September 10, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and September 11, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family receiving guests from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the 11th, including a time to share memories at 6 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home.
