Performance Brokerage Services - Hall’s Harley-Davidson - Rhett, Trent, and Linn Simpson

Performance Brokerage Services has successfully facilitated the sale of Hall’s Harley-Davidson in Springfield, Illinois. The dealership, owned and operated by Stan and Pat Hall since 1962, has now transitioned to new owners Rhett, Trent, and Linn Simpson, marking a significant change in its storied history.

Hall’s Harley-Davidson has been a cornerstone of the Springfield community for over six decades. Stan Hall began his journey in the motorcycle industry as a bicycle mechanic for the Crawford family, who owned a Harley-Davidson dealership in downtown Springfield. Following discussions with the Crawfords, Stan and Pat purchased the dealership, creating Hall’s Harley-Davidson. Under their stewardship, the dealership expanded multiple times to better serve an ever-growing customer base.

Diane Hughes, the Hall’s daughter, joined the family business in 1997 and has been instrumental in its operations alongside her husband, Larry Hughes. The family’s commitment to quality service and community engagement has been a hallmark of the dealership’s success.

In their statement regarding the sale, Stan and Pat Hall expressed a mix of emotions. “It is a bittersweet moment when you think about selling the Harley-Davidson dealership that you and your family have painstakingly cared for over 63 years,” they remarked. They credited Courtney Bernhard of Performance Brokerage Services for guiding them through the complex sale process. “With her help, we were able to find a buyer that we felt comfortable entrusting with the future of our Harley-Davidson family.”

Over the past five years, Performance Brokerage Services has established itself as the leading dealership brokerage firm in North America, having advised on the sale of nearly 400 dealerships. The firm’s expertise was showcased in this transaction, with George C. Chaconas, Courtney A. Bernhard, and Juan C. Pardo serving as exclusive sell-side advisors.

Bernhard reflected on the emotional weight of the sale, stating, “I am so appreciative of the Hall and Hughes family for allowing me to guide them through the sale of their Harley-Davidson dealership. After six decades of ownership, I know it was a very emotional decision. We knew it had to be the right buyer to carry on the legacy—and the Simpsons couldn’t have been a better family to pass the wrench.”

The Simpsons bring their own established legacy to the table, as they currently own Andrae’s Harley-Davidson in Urbana, Illinois. With years of experience in the Harley-Davidson community, they are committed to honoring the legacy of Hall’s Harley-Davidson while upholding family values within Springfield’s riding community.

Rhett, Trent, and Linn Simpson praised Bernhard’s professionalism during the acquisition process. “Being our first time going through an external buy-sell, we had an abundance of questions, and she was always available to answer and make suggestions,” they noted.

Following the sale, Hall’s Harley-Davidson will be rebranded as Simpson’s Harley-Davidson, continuing its operations at the same location.
