URGENT UPDATE: High school sports results from Orlando have just been released for Wednesday, December 31, 2023, showcasing thrilling performances and tight contests across basketball and soccer.

In boys basketball, the Winter Park Wildcats triumphed over Spruce Creek with a decisive score of 52-36. Star player Will Ryan shone brightly, contributing 22 points to the Wildcats’ record, now standing at 10-5. Other notable scores include DeLand defeating Astronaut 57-34 and Bradenton Christian edging out Orangewood Christian 60-59.

In girls basketball, Dr. Phillips dominated Lyman, finishing with a lopsided score of 51-17. MorningJoi Baker-Hopson led Lyman with 8 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Dr. Phillips squad. Additional results saw City of Life Christian overpower Millsap (TX) 58-31.

Turning to soccer, the Mike Stone Invitational provided electrifying moments. In the fifth-place match, Winter Park and Winter Springs ended regulation tied at 4-4, but Winter Park clinched victory 3-2 in penalty kicks. The Wildcats’ Brian Muhja and Miguel Martinez each scored 2 goals and assisted, solidifying their positions as key players.

In a nail-biting championship final, New Smyrna Beach faced off against Bishop Moore, with the score reaching 0-0 by the end of regulation. New Smyrna Beach emerged victorious, winning 3-2 in penalty kicks. Despite the defeat, Spruce Creek’s Cooper Ball was named offensive MVP, while New Smyrna’s Evan Ashberg took home defensive MVP honors.
