Students and faculty at Oral Roberts University participated in a dynamic Criminal Justice Day on March 15, 2024. The event featured a comprehensive demonstration by the Tulsa Police Department, showcasing various aspects of law enforcement operations. This initiative aimed to connect students interested in public safety with professionals in the field, offering them firsthand insights into police work.
The demonstration included participation from specialized units within the Tulsa Police Department. According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, units such as the Training Division, Bomb Squad, Special Operations Team (SOT), Motorcycle Unit, Aviation Unit, and SPYDR (Detective Division) were present. Officers provided a practical overview of their equipment and allowed students to engage in a mini obstacle course designed to replicate some of the physical challenges faced by police officers.
In addition to the Tulsa Police Department, the Broken Arrow Police Department contributed to the event with their mounted unit, further enriching the experience for attendees. Officers engaged with students, discussing the various services provided by police, the importance of community protection, and the necessary steps to become a member of the Tulsa Police force.
The event served as a critical platform for students considering careers in law enforcement. Officers encouraged interested individuals to visit www.jointpd.com for detailed information regarding application requirements and processes.
Criminal Justice Day not only highlighted the operational aspects of police work but also fostered a sense of community engagement and career exploration among students. By bridging the gap between academia and practical law enforcement, the event made a significant impact on the participants, providing valuable insights into the challenges and rewards of a career in public safety.
