The 12th annual Ohana FitFest will take place on September 27, 2023, in Princeville, organized by North Shore Give. This family-friendly event features a 5K obstacle course run/walk designed to promote health and wellness while raising funds for local schools. Registration is currently open online at www.ohanafitfest.com.
The event aims to engage participants of all ages and fitness levels, welcoming seasoned runners, casual walkers, children, and seniors. Ken Rosenthal, the event chair and a board member of North Shore Give, emphasized the community’s spirit, stating, “Ohana FitFest is more than a run or walk. It is one big, joyful celebration of community.”
Supporting Local Schools and Community Health
Proceeds from the Ohana FitFest will support health and fitness programs in North Shore schools. Last year, the event successfully raised $15,000, which was donated to Kilauea Elementary School and Hanalei Elementary School. Since its inception, the festival has contributed over $120,000 to various nonprofit organizations, including Kauai Christian Academy and Kanuikapono Charter School.
Participants can look forward to receiving a free Ohana FitFest hat and a ticket for random giveaways, which include prizes such as golf at Princeville Makai Golf Club and dining experiences at AMA Hanalei and Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa.
