UPDATE: The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has just announced it will pay off the mortgage for the family of fallen Burnsville Fire Department firefighter and paramedic Adam Finseth. This generous act is part of the foundation’s Fallen First Responder Home Program, launched during the 2025 Season of Hope.
The announcement highlights Finseth’s heroism during a tragic incident on February 18, 2024, when he was ambushed while responding to a domestic violence call. Finseth, who was 40 and had been off duty that day, rushed to the scene as one of his department’s two SWAT medics. He did not hesitate to assist, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to public safety.
Burnsville Fire Chief BJ Jungmann praised Finseth, stating, “He showed his commitment and unwavering dedication when he responded … in the middle of the night because seven children were at risk.” Tragically, during the standoff, the suspect began shooting at officers, fatally wounding Finseth as he attempted to provide medical aid to a fellow officer. The assailant subsequently took his own life, but thankfully, the children and the suspect’s girlfriend were unharmed.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, based in New York and inspired by the events of September 11, 2001, aims to support the families of fallen first responders. Their efforts in paying off the Finseth family’s mortgage highlight the foundation’s commitment to honoring those who sacrifice their lives for others.
As the community mourns the loss of a dedicated hero, the foundation’s support provides vital assistance to the Finseth family during this difficult time. The emotional impact of this gesture underscores the importance of community and support for first responders’ families.
Next, the Burnsville community will come together to honor Finseth’s legacy, while the Tunnel to Towers Foundation continues its vital work to support families across the nation. Stay tuned for further developments on this story as the community rallies in support of the Finseth family.
