This rollout comes five years after the app debuted in Japan as the “My Nintendo” app. Now, fans in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and much of Europe can enjoy a streamlined shopping experience directly from their smartphones.
The Nintendo Store app allows users to browse and purchase a variety of products, including the latest Switch and Switch 2 consoles, hardware accessories, and both physical and digital games. While the app does not support in-app purchases, selecting products redirects users to their device’s default web browser for completion. This approach provides a more user-friendly alternative to navigating the mobile browser version of the eShop.
To access certain features within the app, users must link their Nintendo account and network ID. This connection enables players to view their historical gaming activity, including details about games played on the Switch, Switch 2, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U—though the latter two systems only reflect play activity up to February 2020. Previously, this information was accessible only through parental control settings.
