Nike has announced the upcoming release of the ACG Zegama, a rebranded version of its Zegama trail running shoe, set to launch in summer 2026. This model targets ultramarathon runners and builds on the original Zegama 2, which debuted in 2014. The revamped ACG Zegama aims to enhance the experience for off-road athletes by incorporating significant updates while maintaining the comfort and stability that have defined its predecessors.

The ACG Zegama features advanced cushioning technology, including exposed ZoomX foam underfoot, which Nike claims provides an impressive 85 percent energy return. Additionally, the shoe integrates Cushlon 3.0 foam in the midsole to enhance stability during runs. Runners can also expect improved traction from the outsole, now equipped with an optimized lug pattern of Vibram Megagrip rubber, known for its durability on various terrains.

Caleb Olson, a member of Nike’s All Conditions Racing (ACG) Department, expressed enthusiasm for the shoe, stating, “The ACG Zegama has the same comfort and stability as its predecessor, which I already loved as a daily trainer, and adds more responsiveness that makes it really fun to race in.” This sentiment is echoed by fellow ACG runner Tyler Green, who noted, “The shoe feels excellent right out of the box; the traction is stellar; and, of course, it looks really good.”

One of the most significant adjustments in the ACG Zegama is the introduction of a new trail-specific last designed to provide more space in the forefoot and toe box. This change aims to enhance comfort for long-distance runners, aligning with Nike’s commitment to improving performance footwear.

The ACG line, which began in 1989, has evolved significantly over the years. Although Nike has been active in the outdoor footwear market since the early 1980s, the ACG Zegama represents a continuing effort to merge rugged functionality with modern design. This model follows the recent launch of the ACG Ultrafly, indicating a strategic push to rebrand and innovate within Nike’s trail running segment.

The ACG Zegama will be available for purchase on nike.com and through select Nike ACG retailers next summer. Pricing details have yet to be confirmed, but the anticipation surrounding this release reflects Nike’s dedication to meeting the needs of serious trail runners.
