The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced planned nighttime lane closures on I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia from October 13 to October 17, 2023. These closures will facilitate essential bridge deck repairs and barrier installation along the interstate.
The work will occur nightly from 21:00 to 05:00 on both northbound and southbound lanes of I-95, specifically between the interchanges of Allegheny Avenue and Cottman Avenue (Route 73). This project is part of a larger initiative, the $355.3 million I-95/BR3 project, which focuses on widening and reconstructing the interstate between Wheatsheaf Lane and north of Margaret Street.
Motorists in the area should be prepared for significant delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes during the closure hours. PennDOT emphasizes that all work is weather dependent, and conditions may affect the schedule.
