Main Line Health has officially launched its first in-house Psychiatry Residency Program at Bryn Mawr Hospital, significantly enhancing mental health training and access to care. The new centralized Psychiatry Residency Hub, situated in the Founder’s Building at 101 S. Bryn Mawr Ave., integrates psychology and psychotherapy services with the residency program, which is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

The opening of the new facility follows the transition of psychiatry residents to Main Line Health after the closure of Crozer Health. Leaders within the health system assert that this centralized location is designed to encourage collaboration among residents and faculty, thereby strengthening educational outcomes and improving patient care.

The Psychiatry Residency Program is structured to provide extensive hands-on clinical experience tailored to the specific needs of the community. The curriculum includes a variety of rotations in both inpatient and outpatient settings, covering specialties such as addiction psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, and emergency psychiatry.

Brittni Jones, DO, serves as the Program Director, overseeing a team that includes eight psychologists and psychotherapists, along with five resident psychiatrists. The current resident roster features Kenneth Wee and Robert Duprey, both in their fourth year of residency, and Asa Thompson, Reema Patel, and Zita Jones, all in their third year.

The Psychiatry Residency Hub officially opened on December 8, 2023, and is now accepting new patients. This initiative aligns with Main Line Health’s broader strategy to expand mental health services in response to increasing demand.

By consolidating psychiatric services and training in a dedicated space, Main Line Health aims to enhance continuity of care for patients. This development is expected to bring high-quality psychiatric services closer to the community, thereby addressing the pressing need for mental health support across the Main Line area.

Main Line Health officials emphasize that the creation of this residency hub is a crucial step in meeting the growing mental health needs of the population while fostering an environment that enhances the educational experience for residents. The new program represents a significant investment in both community health and the next generation of mental health professionals.
