UPDATE: Residents of the 6600 block of Peach Street in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, are in an escalating crisis as a local man, Gary Boyadzhian, admits to blasting three train horns and setting off his home alarm almost every day. This alarming behavior has left neighbors desperate for relief, enduring noise disturbances lasting several minutes daily.
Boyadzhian acknowledges the ruckus he creates, stating, “I know it’s not fair to my neighbors, absolutely. If I were in their shoes, I would complain too.” However, his actions stem from a long-standing grievance with the LAPD‘s Van Nuys division. “I need help. I don’t know how else to cry out for it. That’s why I’m setting off the sirens,” he explained. Despite his admissions, he has not clarified what assistance he requires.
The situation has left residents feeling powerless. One anonymous neighbor expressed frustration over the delayed police response: “It makes the windows rumble. He does it and then he stops, and by the time (the police) get out here 40 minutes later… they can’t do anything.” The LAPD has confirmed they have received numerous complaints but need to experience the noise firsthand to take action.
Residents have taken matters into their own hands, displaying signs encouraging others to report the noise. Yet, officials indicate that without direct evidence, enforcement remains challenging. The local council, led by Imelda Padilla, has not officially received complaints regarding the disturbances, but the community is urging quicker responses.
Authorities have stated, “We are in talks with the city attorney about options, as well as using other department resources to assist.” As the noise complaints continue, the community remains on edge, waiting for a resolution to their distressing situation.
Residents and local officials are urging immediate action to restore peace in Van Nuys. The urgency of this situation has sparked widespread concern, making it a topic of discussion throughout the neighborhood. What will happen next remains uncertain, but for now, the community’s patience is wearing thin.
