NBA YoungBoy, the Baton Rouge rapper, has avoided any legal repercussions following a traffic stop in Utah on December 31, 2025. A vehicle was pulled over by a Utah Highway Patrol trooper on Interstate 15 in Utah County around 16:30 local time for a traffic violation. The stop potentially jeopardized the rapper’s burgeoning success after a standout year in his career.
Reports from both FOX 13 News and KUTV News indicate that three individuals were in the vehicle: an unidentified male driver, an unidentified female passenger, and NBA YoungBoy himself. During the traffic stop, authorities conducted a probable cause search, resulting in the seizure of unspecified illicit drugs. The driver and female passenger reportedly took responsibility for the substances found, while the Utah County Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the case for potential charges against them.
Despite the circumstances, NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, faced no charges and was not arrested. It appears that the 26-year-old was not involved with the drugs discovered in the vehicle. Given the rapper’s history with legal issues, particularly his previous federal gun charges, this incident could have posed significant complications had authorities pursued charges against him.
Police reports suggest that a confidential tip indicated the presence of a substantial amount of cash in the car. According to UHP Sergeant Mike Alexander, while there was money present, it did not appear to be linked to the drugs. As of now, Sergeant Alexander stated that he does not anticipate any future charges against NBA YoungBoy related to this incident or his prior legal troubles.
NBA YoungBoy’s connection to Utah is noteworthy, as he spent time under house arrest there due to legal issues earlier this decade. During that period, he recorded and released much of his music, solidifying his presence in the industry.
As he enters 2026, the rapper is focused on maintaining a low profile and continuing his growth in the music scene, steering clear of controversies. Although rumors involving personal relationships have emerged, including speculation involving social media personality Kai Cenat’s ex-girlfriend, Gigi Alayah, his primary goal remains on engaging with fans and building his career.
With the traffic stop not resulting in any charges against him, NBA YoungBoy can look forward to a year where he can concentrate on his artistry rather than legal issues.
