WWE women’s champion Naomi has publicly challenged rapper Cardi B ahead of her guest hosting appearance at the much-anticipated SummerSlam event. The two have exchanged heated remarks on social media as they prepare for the wrestling spectacle, which is set to take place on August 2 and August 3 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Naomi, 37, expressed her frustration with Cardi, stating, “She better hope she don’t run into me at MetLife. She’s been talking real crazy and reckless and I don’t like that.” The tension escalated when, during a social media interaction, Naomi encouraged her followers to share positive comments about her. Cardi responded with a comment that referenced Naomi’s family, specifically mentioning her husband, Jimmy Uso, and his parents, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi and Talisua Fuavai-Fatu.
In response to Cardi’s dig, Naomi declared, “This means war ⚠️🤬,” signaling a playful but competitive spirit. The rivalry intensified further when Naomi jokingly threatened to “shave all of that pretty hair off and make me a wig,” referencing Cardi’s recent social media post showcasing her natural hair.
Despite the rivalry, Naomi acknowledged the significance of having Cardi B involved in WWE. “I love the mainstream crossovers,” she remarked. “I love when we can bring in different, amazing artists and performers into our world and share our fan bases. Wrestling touches everyone around the world.”
In addition to Cardi B’s role as host, Jelly Roll will also make an appearance in the ring, teaming up with Randy Orton to face Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre on August 2. Naomi will defend her WWE women’s world championship on August 3 in a triple threat match against Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky.
Naomi recently achieved her title after winning the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match in June. She successfully cashed in her championship contract at WWE Evolution earlier this month. Reflecting on her victory, Naomi stated, “I’m still wrapping my head around it. Still coming down from the excitement of it, the shock of it, the overwhelming, much appreciated reaction and response from the fans.”
Naomi emphasized the importance of fan engagement, noting, “You can’t have the good without the bad. But what I love and appreciate is that, one way or another, the fans feel something. They’re connected to this phase that I’m in, whether they like it or not.”
As anticipation builds for SummerSlam, which will air live on Peacock at 19:00 ET over its two-night event, wrestling fans are eager to see how the unfolding drama between Naomi and Cardi B will play out, both in the ring and beyond.
