UPDATE: A tragic accident has led to the sentencing of a motorist who killed a 33-year-old social worker, Sarah Fensom, after a reckless overtaking maneuver in poor weather. The collision occurred on September 12, 2023, on the A614 Old Rufford Road in Farnsfield, and resulted in Fensom’s death just three days later.
Motorist Lee Horsley, 31, lost control of his highly modified BMW, which boasted an alarming 397 brake horsepower, while trying to overtake in wet conditions. The Nottingham Crown Court heard that the BMW collided head-on with Fensom’s Audi, causing severe injuries including a fractured spine and neck. Despite immediate aid from bystanders and medical personnel, Fensom passed away in hospital.
