Microsoft is reintroducing its line of holiday sweaters for the upcoming festive season, featuring nostalgic designs that pay homage to the company’s storied history. After skipping the sweater launch in 2024, the tech giant is set to offer three distinct options, including a design called “Artifact,” which prominently features the iconic Clippy character.
The Artifact sweater showcases a host of retro elements, with Clippy at its center, surrounded by familiar logos such as MSN, Minesweeper, Internet Explorer, MS-DOS, and various versions of the Windows logo. This sweater aims to evoke fond memories for long-time users of Microsoft products.
In addition to the Artifact option, Microsoft is also selling a sweater in a distinctive Zune brown color, which includes a playful design element— a play button that is expected to light up. Both the Artifact and Zune sweaters are priced at $79.95. Customers can also pre-order the Xbox-themed sweater for $59.95, further expanding the holiday offerings.
Continuing a Festive Tradition
Microsoft first introduced its holiday sweaters in 2018 as a fun way to engage with fans of its Windows operating system. The company began selling them directly to consumers in 2020, turning what was once a giveaway into a popular retail product. This year marks a revival of that tradition, as Microsoft aims to tap into the holiday spirit with these unique garments.
Shoppers can find these sweaters available for purchase through Microsoft’s online store, as well as at its physical store located in Redmond, Washington. Additionally, the holiday sweaters will be featured at the Microsoft experience center in New York City, allowing fans in various locations to join in the festive fun.
Microsoft’s decision to bring back its holiday sweaters has been met with enthusiasm from fans eager to embrace the quirky and nostalgic designs. As the company continues to evolve its branding, these sweaters serve as a playful reminder of its legacy in the tech industry while adding a touch of holiday cheer.
