LL Cool J has been announced as the host for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards, scheduled for September 7, 2023. The event will take place at the UBS Arena in New York City, starting at 20:00 EDT. This year’s ceremony will be broadcast live across multiple platforms, including CBS, MTV, and Paramount+.
Having previously co-hosted the event alongside Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow in 2022, this marks LL Cool J’s return to the role as a solo host. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee is well-regarded in the music industry, being a former recipient of the Video Vanguard Award.
The nominations for the VMAs were unveiled earlier this month, with a significant highlight being LL Cool J’s own song, “Murdergram Deaux” from his album, The Force, nominated for Best Hip-Hop.
Lady Gaga leads this year’s nominations with a total of 12, marking her first occasion as the most-nominated artist. Following her are Bruno Mars, who has received 11 nominations, and Kendrick Lamar, up for 10 awards. Both Blackpink’s Rose and Sabrina Carpenter have each been nominated eight times.
As the anticipation builds for the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, LL Cool J’s hosting promises to bring a dynamic and engaging atmosphere to the celebration of music and artistry. Viewers can tune in to witness the excitement on multiple platforms as the evening unfolds.
