Linda Sue Ott, 74, of Lomita, California, passed away on July 9, 2025, while in hospice care due to complications from Multiple Myeloma. Born on August 24, 1950, in Indiana, she dedicated her life to education, counseling, and a variety of professional pursuits before her retirement.
Linda graduated from high school in 1968 and went on to achieve a Masters of Divinity from Claremont University. She also earned an MS in Counselor Education from the University of Southern California and both a Bachelors and Masters of Arts in Religion and Social Sciences/Psychology from Azusa Pacific University. Her career spanned several fields, including roles in education, financial consulting, and stockbroking. Notably, she served as a District Manager at World Book and as a Materials Donation Coordinator at Goodwill Industries.
Passion for Poker and Family
Upon retiring, Linda developed a love for visiting casinos, particularly in Las Vegas and Valley Center. She found joy in playing poker and slot machines, proudly recalling a time when she placed third in the World Series of Poker. Her enthusiasm for these activities extended to her loved ones, as she often invited family and friends to join her on these trips, sharing not only the thrill of gaming but also the vibrant entertainment and diverse cuisines available.
In 2014, Linda was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Despite the limitations imposed by her illness, she continued to relish her favorite pastimes and cherished moments with family and friends. Those close to her remember her for her infectious sense of humor, which remained a constant source of joy even as her health declined.
Linda is survived by her wife, Debbie, along with several family members, including her brother-in-law, Mike Larkins, and her brother, Jerry Ott II. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will carry forward her legacy of generosity and love.
A Lasting Legacy and Final Wishes
Linda chose to donate her body to the University of Southern California Medical School, reflecting her lifelong commitment to education and service. A small private gathering for family and friends will be held to celebrate her life and the impact she had on those around her.
