BREAKING: Lakeside Breaks has officially opened its doors at 5388 E. Lake Road in Sheffield Lake, transforming the local hobby scene for collectors and enthusiasts. This new sports card and collectibles shop launched its in-person business this past weekend, following several months of successful online sales and live-streaming.

Co-owners Nick Scarpitti and Mike Gallipoli are excited to bring a vibrant community space for hobbyists, featuring a diverse selection of trading cards, including baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and Pokémon cards. The store also highlights items related to celebrity and pop culture, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

The journey to a physical storefront began in April when the duo started streaming on Whatnot. “We were going live every day, building a community online,” Gallipoli explained. “Then we realized this could actually turn into a storefront.”

The demand for a local card shop quickly became evident as they outgrew their home-based operation. “Nick started out of his house, and then it kind of turned into, ‘I want my living room back,’” Gallipoli said. The new location allows them to expand their offerings and connect more directly with collectors.

During the opening weekend, Lakeside Breaks attracted steady traffic from curious collectors eager to explore the new space. “We have a little bit of everything,” Gallipoli noted, highlighting the store’s strong focus on Cleveland athletes. Customers flocked in, particularly interested in local talent, underscoring the shop’s community-centered approach.

Since August, the owners have been busy acquiring large collections to stock the store, resulting in a broad assortment of cards. “It’s a lot of cards, and some of it’s still disorganized, but that’s how we’ve built it up,” Gallipoli stated. In addition to retail sales, the shop also engages in buying and trading, a feature that proved popular during the opening days.

Looking forward, Scarpitti and Gallipoli plan to expand their services, including hosting trade nights and community gatherings centered around the card hobby. “There’s really not a card shop in Sheffield Lake,” Gallipoli emphasized. “We want this to be a fun place for people to hang out and get away from everyday stuff.”

Lakeside Breaks aims to create not just a retail space, but a community hub for collectors and hobbyists alike. The store is currently open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and plans to operate on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Weekend hours may vary as they finalize their schedule.
