UPDATE: Kylie Gray, a standout from Dalton State, has just been honored as a member of the 2025 SSAC Women’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team, according to a league announcement. Notably, Gray is one of only three student-athletes to achieve a perfect 4.0 GPA, highlighting her exceptional performance both in academics and athletics.

This prestigious recognition is awarded to athletes who not only excel in their studies but also compete at a high level. All honorees finished in the top-13 at the recent SSAC Championship, securing All-Conference honors. The Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolade went to Kristina Stojanovic of William Carey.

Gray’s achievements extend beyond the classroom. During the fall season, she recorded impressive times, including a season-best 5K of 19:10 at the NAIA Appalachian Challenge and a standout 6K time of 23:27 at both the SSAC Championship and the UAH Charger Invitational. Her top finish came with a 4th place at the Mountainside Stride, while she also placed 43rd at the Appalachian Challenge.

To qualify for the SSAC Scholar-Athlete Team, student-athletes must be at least sophomores, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, and have participated in at least 50% of team competitions. Graduate students and transfers are also eligible after completing one semester at their institution.

This recognition not only underscores Gray’s hard work but also serves as an inspiration for student-athletes across the nation. With her dual success on the trails and in the classroom, Gray is setting a powerful example of what can be achieved with dedication and determination.
